Stead drops Rams hint

Derby striker Jon Stead has hinted he would like to extend his Pride Park switch.

Derby County's on-loan striker Jon Stead has hinted he would like to extend his stay at Pride Park.

Stead is currently with Billy Davies' side on loan from parent club Sunderland, but is due to return to The Stadium of Light on Monday 1st January.

The former Blackburn and Huddersfield man is enjoying life with the Midlands club and has hinted would like to extend his stay away from The Black Cats.

"I have got this season and another two left on my contract at Sunderland," revealed Stead.

"But I have felt a bit of a release here at Derby, it has felt like a fresh start because I needed to get out of Sunderland and start playing games.

"Derby are a club moving forward and the way things are shaping up, it could be the best season here since they were in the Premiership.

"There's also a very good squad here and there is a buzz in the air because people are confident, but I am only here until the start of January and we will see what happens after that."
