Stoke City have completed the permanent signing of midfielder Rory Delap from Championship rivals Sunderland.The 30-year-old has been on loan with The Potters since October after becoming surplus to requirements under Black Cats boss Roy Keane.
The former Carlisle United and Derby County man arrives at The Britannia Stadium on a free transfer after signing a two-and-a-half year contract with Tony Pulis's side.
All this despite breaking his leg in a game against the Wearsiders back in October, with the injury likely to keep Delap sidelined for the rest of the season.
"Since picking up his leg injury, Rory's attitude has been superb, and everyone at the club, especially the manager Tony Pulis, is delighted he has signed permanently," Potters chief executive Tony Scholes told the club's official website.
"He has been a credit to himself for the way he has reacted to his unfortunate injury and has made a good impression on everybody at the club.
"His rehabilitation is going well and the medical staff at the club are pleased with the progress he is making."
Delap joins fellow midfielder Liam Lawrence in sealing a January move to Stoke from Sunderland.
