Michael Chopra insists he will always accept Roy Keane's decision when he is dropped from the Sunderland team.
The striker was demoted to the bench for last week's defeat at West Ham United and has not scored in his last nine appearances.
But the £5million signing from Cardiff City admits he will not be demanding an explanation from Sunderland manager Keane.
"I don't know whether he's trying to pull us in so he can hammer us for going to see him," said Chopra in The Sun.
Keane's the boss
"I'll always accept his decision because he's the manager.
"The manager doesn't want to get close to players. He knows if he becomes too friendly, players become harder to drop.
"That's a good thing. I knocked on Bobby Robson's door quite a few times.
"I got a lot of excuses, him saying I would get my chance soon. I was waiting and waiting. That's why I decided to leave Newcastle."
