Sunderland forward Anthony Stokes has vowed to show the Black Cats' faithful what they have been missing.
The £2million capture arrived at The Stadium of Light with great expectations, however, his displays to date have been inconsistent.
While Stokes has mainly be utilised off the bench by manager Roy Keane, the pacey striker is promising to show the fans the best of what he has to offer.
"I'll be the first to admit that I've been inconsistent since I came here," he told the
Sunderland Echo. "The fans haven't seen the best of me yet, and there's still a lot more to come.
"I've had to be patient and I've had to work hard. But I've done that and I'm hoping people will start to see the real me now."
It had been speculated Stokes could be off-loaded, however, the lively front-man has no plans to depart and wants to see out the remainder of his contract.
"I'm not planning on going anywhere, unless the gaffer has a different outlook," he continued. "I haven't heard anything to that effect, though, and I certainly don't plan to leave.
"I'm really happy here. I'm enjoying playing for Sunderland and I'm planning to see out my contract."
Quietly confident
Meanwhile, Sunderland's new signing Jean-Yves Mvoto is quietly confident he will be able to adapt to life in English football.
The 19-year-old was signed from Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday and has been tipped as one for the future by Keane.
While question marks remain whether the youngster will succeed in England, Mvoto is hoping to learn from friends Armand Traore and Adel Taarabt, of Arsenal and Tottenham respectively.
"Am I ready to play in the Premier League? We will wait and see," stated Mvoto. "I already know Armand and Adel, who are doing well in England.
"I know the passion of the fans in Sunderland. Sunderland is a great club and it is very good to be here. I'm happy to come to England to play in this league."
