Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones is hoping to make his comeback from a knee injury at the start of October.
Jones has been sidelined since picking up the injury during Trinidad & Tobago's friendly defeat by England at the end of last season.
He has set a realistic target of being fit to return to the Sunderland first team for the trip to Fulham on 18th October.
However, Jones could be back a fortnight earlier against Arsenal, which would make him available for Trinidad's 2010 World Cup qualifying double-header against Guatemala and the United States.
"I'm trying to get fit for October 18," said Jones in the Daily Express. "But, with determination and fingers crossed, I'm also eyeing a return on October 4.
"If it happens by then there's the possibility I can be available for the national team.
"I'm not going to put pressure on returning for the qualifiers in October. At the same time, if it happens, it happens.
"Roy Keane does not have a fight with me and once things go well I hope to be there for Trinidad & Tobago.
"I am starting to run again and that is a big relief because it has been frustrating having to sit out the past few weeks."
