Tigers to seal move

Hull City have confirmed that they are close to signing Sunderland defender Paul McShane. The 25-year-old stopper is no stranger to the KC Stadium having enjoyed a four-month loan stint with the club last season. City failed to bring him to the club on a permanent basis in January, but boss Phil Brown has finally got his man. "Fingers crossed - we are nearly there but we are not there," said Brown. "I think he is well known and well liked - the heart-on-the-sleeve, never-say-die attitude whether he is wearing a Hull, Sunderland or Ireland shirt. "He can only be an asset because of what he did in the first few months of last season. "He then watched from afar his team-mates struggling to survive in the Premier League but now we have, I think that is one of the reasons why he wanted to come back." As a result of the McShane deal, Brown has ended his interest in Bosnian trialist Sanel Jahic.
