Reported Sunderland target Siaka Tiene has declared his love for former club St Etienne and English football.
The Ivory Coast international moved to France in 2005 and broke into the St Etienne side under Laurent Roussey during the 2007-08 season.
But the left-sided midfielder was forced out by the club's board in the summer of 2008, selling him to Ligue 1 rivals Valenciennes, and the 27-year-old still has regrets over his departure.
"In 2007-2008, coach Roussey trusted me and gave me my chance, and I took that chance," he told skysports.com.
"I was doing very well for the team but the people running the club were not interested in me.
"I had two years left on my contract but they wanted to sell me and they weren't sincere with me.
"It was very sad, those guys did not trust me. However, St Etienne is still a very honourable club and have a good culture. I loved the club, I love the fans, I even love the town."
Tiene is also a big admirer of the English game, although he insists he is yet to receive an approach from Sunderland or any other Premier League outfit.
"I love the English football but I have not yet received a call and neither have the Valenciennes club," he added.
