Defender's time at Roots Hall could be over

Southend defender Jean-Yves M'Voto is to undergo surgery on a hip injury, potentially ending his time with the club. The Sunderland loanee has been restricted to just six appearances for the Shrimpers as a result of the injury, and is now set to go under the knife in a bid to cure the problem. His loan spell at Roots Hall expires in January and the operation, which is set to rule him out until then, leaves him unlikely to play for the club again if they do not choose to extend the agreement. M'Voto would then return to Sunderland, unless a deal is agreed with another club.
