Darren Bent squandered a huge chance to give Derby the lead as he shot over the bar from right in front of goal

Watch Darren Bent miss a sitter for Derby that cost them victory in their goalless draw with Burton in the Sky Bet Championship on Tuesday night.

Former England striker Bent had been in red-hot form for the Rams lately, but somehow contrived to steer the ball over the top from two yards after Tom Ince's strike had deflected into his path.

Aiming to close the gap on the top six, Derby were held by a resilient Burton side, led by their former boss Nigel Clough who was dismissed from Pride Park in 2013.

The Rams could have climbed as high as eighth in the table with victory, but instead are left languishing in 11th, 10 points off sixth with their play-off hopes hanging by a thread.

Burton, meanwhile, extended their gap over the relegation zone to five points after a crucial draw at Pride Park.
