The Welsh international, in action against Brazil on Tuesday evening, has been in talks with a few clubs, with Derby rumoured to be challenging Martin O`Neill`s side for his signature.
O`Neill is likely to be in need of signing a new keeper, as cover for the injury-prone Tim Flowers, because current back-up Pegguy Arphexad is tipped to join Liverpool under the Bosman Ruling.
Crossley is also available on a free transfer, as his contract is expiring at The City Ground, and the 30-year-old is hopeful that a deal can be sealed imminently.
"I have had talks with two or three clubs and have decided who I would like to join," said the popular Forest man. "The deal`s close to going through and I am back in Nottingham soon, so it will be Thursday at the earliest.
"There`s going to be competition for places at every Premiership club but I`m quite confident I can progress. In fact, I`m surprised how easily it has come along. Only on Sunday afternoon, I had a call from another interested club from the First Division."
