The 26-year-old France B international agreed terms with Derby on Friday, but Grenet revealed that the two clubs are yet to agree a fee.
"The two clubs have failed to reach agreement on the amount of the of the transfer," said Grenet.
"That remains a small detail to for them to sort out between them.
"But as for me, my part is done. I am to 99 percent with Derby now. I signed the papers on my contract for four years."
The Basque defender will be hoping that the two clubs can agree a fee, after a move to Middlesbrough collapsed in similar fashion over the summer. Ironically Grenet's first taste of Premiership action will be at The Riverside Stadium on Saturday as he travels to watch his prospective new team-mates in action.
Grenet has revealed that he made a decision to move to Derby, after his manager Elie Baup told him his first team chances would be limited.
"From the moment I had this proposal from Derby, I went to see Elie Baup to advise me on if I would be playing," he said.
"He said to me clearly as it stood at the moment my chances would be limited. I then thought I could not let this opportunity pass and I decided to go for it after this discussion."
Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud revealed that deal is almost done, but The Girondins supremo warned The Rams that they will not budge in their valuation of the player and Derby will have to pay the full fee.
"The broad outline is that we nearly have an agreement with Derby County," said Triaud.
"We remain to adjust the technical drafting of the final document.
"We are seeking to have banking guarantees from them [Derby] and have told them that they can take it or leave it."
