Preston produced a commanding display to crush Derby County 3-0 at Deepdale.Preston North End produced a commanding performance to crush Derby County 3-0 at Deepdale.
A first half brace from Graham Alexander, allied to a late Richard Cresswell goal, earned The Lilywhites the points.
Alexander's first goal arrived on 13 minutes when he unleashed a rasping volley into the back of the net from Eddie Lewis' cross.
The hosts continued to dominate with Derby keeper Lee Camp saving from Lewis' header and then clasping a Brian O'Neil attempt.
With the game hurtling towards half time, Alexander added his second of the contest from the penalty spot after new signing Chris Sedgwick was fouled by Grzegorz Rasiak.
Cresswell blasted a shot just wide after half time while Sedgwick was also off target as Derby rarely threatened at the opposite end.
Preston put a gloss on the scoreline with two minutes remaining when Patrick Agyemang's centre was tapped in by Cresswell.
