Derby County boss Phil Brown says he may play assistant Dean Holdsworth.Derby County boss Phil Brown says he may use assistant manager Dean Holdsworth as a player this season.
The former Bolton Wanderers number two is looking for a striker following the summer transfer deadline day sale of Poland international Grzegorz Rasiak to Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Watford, Wimbledon, Bolton Wanderers and Coventry City hit-man arrived at Pride Park to become Brown's number two last month after spending last season playing for Conference South side Havant & Waterlooville.
With his loan search for a new front-man continuing, Brown may consider the 36-year-old as a playing option after he appeared in Derby's recent reserve matches.
"Deano and goalkeeping coach Kevin Poole are registered as players and in an ideal world, you would not want to use your staff as players but both are still capable of doing a job," Brown told the Derby Evening Telegraph.
"They have not pulled on a shirt for the first team or played in front of the Derby supporters but if I need to call on them at some stage this season, I will."
