Ten-man QPR held on for a surprise 2-1 win over Derby at Pride Park. The ten men of Queens Park Rangers held on for a surprise 2-1 victory over Derby at Pride Park, despite playing without striker Paul Furlong for the best part of an hour.
The veteran striker was sent off for violent conduct in the 34th minute, seeing red for the second time this season - each time in a 2-1 away win.
Rangers had gone ahead four minutes before Furlong's dismissal when Gareth Ainsworth headed in after Kevin Poole failed to hold Lloyd Dyer's free kick.
Derby twice went close to equalising before the interval when Stern John was denied by Simon Royce and Paul Peschisolido headed over the bar.
Emerson Thome fired over and substitute Dexter Blackstock headed wide before Derby were given a golden opportunity to level from the spot when Dyer handled, only for Royce to push away Inigo Idiakez's penalty.
The Rams were throwing everything forward in search of an equaliser, but they were hit on the break when Georges Santos carried the ball clear and fed Kevin Gallen, who shot low past Poole.
Blackstock, making his debut for Derby after signing on loan from Southampton, pulled a goal back late on, but Royce had the last word when he made a fine save to deny Idiakez.
