Dexter Blackstock's loan stay at Derby has been extended until the end of the year.Dexter Blackstock has had his loan stay with Derby County extended until the end of the year.
The 20-year-old striker initially joined from Southampton at the end of October, but following a request from The Rams, the two sides have agreed to prolong his spell at Pride Park.
Blackstock has impressed Derby boss Phil Brown during his time at the club, and the manager is delighted to secure his services for another month.
"Southampton could have recalled Dexter but thankfully they agreed to let him stay with us for another month and we are delighted to have him on board," Brown told the club's official website.
"Dexter has been a significant asset to the squad and we would like to thank both Southampton and Harry Redknapp for being so helpful," added director of football Murdo Mackay.
The Rams captured Middlesbrough striker Danny Graham on a similar loan deal earlier in the week, and Brown is keen to see the two of them pressing for places in the first team.
"Having Dexter and Danny at the club increases our attacking options. Both can play the centre forward role, either on their own or in a partnership," he said.
