Sean O'Driscoll still wants to sign Lionel Ainsworth on loan for Bournemouth.
Sean O'Driscoll has confirmed his intention to try to sign Lionel Ainsworth on loan for Bournemouth.
Ainsworth has been down to the South Coast on trial from Derby County and figured in Saturday's friendly defeat to Portsmouth.
The teenage winger impressed O'Driscoll with his display and the Cherries boss is now exploring the possibility of a loan deal.
O'Driscoll accepts it will not be straightforward, but he hopes to have the 18-year-old in his Bournemouth squad for Saturday's League One opener against Chesterfield.
"He can play out wide or up front, so he gives us another option if we take him on," O'Driscoll told the Daily Echo.
"We'll have a chat with Lionel. He came down on Thursday, so he's had two days to have a really good look at us and we've had a good look at him.
"He's got potential. He's not the finished article, but he gives us something a little bit different. He's quick and he gives us a bit of pace, which is what we lack and he's done himself no harm.
"He's got to make a decision and so have we and then we've got to find the finance. We'll have a chat with Derby and see where we go from there, but he is somebody we're interested in."
Meanwhile, O'Driscoll is still trying to put together a deal to sign Southampton striker Leon Best on loan.
