Chairboys land Ainsworth

Wycombe's bid for promotion has been boosted by the signing of Lionel Ainsworth.

Wycombe's bid for promotion from League Two has been handed a boost with the loan capture of Lionel Ainsworth until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old is down the pecking order at Championship table toppers Derby County and has been eager for a loan move in order to garner experience of first team football.

Earlier this season Ainsworth, who operates as a forward, had a successful sojourn on the coast with Bournemouth and will be looking to make a similar impact at Wycombe.

Ainsworth could make a debut at the weekend should Chairboys boss Paul Lambert elect to pitch him in immediately for Wanderers' trip to Mansfield.

He is also eligible to play for Wycombe in the play-offs, with the club currently handily placed in seventh.
