Davies waits on Feilhaber

Billy Davies is hoping to receive international clearance for Benny Feilhaber before Friday evening.

Derby boss hoping for international clearance

Billy Davies is hoping Derby will receive international clearance for Benny Feilhaber in time for the midfielder to face Tottenham at the weekend. Feilhaber has agreed a £1million switch to Pride Park from Hamburg and has been training with his new Rams team-mates. But the 22-year-old American still has to be cleared to play for Derby and Davies is keen to have his summer signing available as soon as possible. "We need the international clearance before 5pm tomorrow, but I am optimistic we will receive the paperwork in time," Davies said. "Benny is a player we have been tracking for something like a year, and I think we got him out of Hamburg just in time - because after another six months the really big clubs would have been interested. "He can play anywhere in midfield - left, right or in the middle - and he has a goal in him. "One thing he certainly does not lack is confidence - he is American."

Defender blows

Meanwhile, Davies has confirmed defenders Claude Davis and Tyrone Mears have picked up rib and calf injuries respectively. "Claude has been for x-rays, and there does not seem to be anything broken. But we will just have to see how painful it gets," he added. "Tyrone has taken an impact injury on the lower part of his leg but he should be okay for Tottenham."
