Maccabi Tel Aviv have been spurned in their bid to lure American midfielder Benny Feilhaber away from Derby County.

Israeli giants fail to match Derby's valuation

Maccabi Tel Aviv have been spurned in their bid to lure American midfielder Benny Feilhaber away from Derby County. Derby boss Paul Jewell gave permission for Feilhaber to engage in discussions with the Israeli club but they were unable to match County's valuation of the player. Rams chairman Adam Pearson has confirmed that, for the moment at least, the deal is dead in the water.

Benny's back

"Maccabi Tel Aviv showed an interest in Benny and we allowed him the chance to speak to them," said Pearson. "However, we have now rejected their latest bid and have called Benny back to Derby. "There is a lot of interest in Benny in the MLS in the States and it is something that is likely to be pursued, therefore we feel it is in the best interests of the club and the player to get him back with us."
