Wednesday goalkeeper expected to join Burnley

Skysports.com understands Sheffield Wednesday have turned down a last-ditch approach from Bristol City for goalkeeper Lee Grant. Grant is expected to complete a proposed switch to Burnley in the next 48 hours and is currently undergoing a medical and holding talks at Turf Moor, where he will link up with former Owls boss Brian Laws. Robins boss Steve Coppell had been hoping to hijack the Clarets' plans and tabled an offer for the highly-rated shot-stopper But that has been knocked back by the Hillsborough outfit, who are confident that the sale of Grant will help them fend off a winding up order from HM Revenue and Customs over an outstanding £550,000 PAYE balance. The 27-year-old former Derby man has also been linked with a switch to West Brom, who are looking to bring in cover and competition for Scott Carson as they prepare for life back in the Premier League. But the chance to work with Laws again at Burnley looks to have swayed Grant, who had been strongly tipped to leave the South Yorkshire club following their relegation to League One at the end of last season.
