Midfielder moves to Pride Park from Killie

Derby County have added to their squad by completing a deal for Kilmarnock midfielder Craig Bryson. The 24-year-old Scotland international has penned a three-year contract at Pride Park and becomes Derby's fourth signing of the summer. Goalkeeper Frank Fielding along with strikers Jamie Ward and Theo Robinson have already been snapped up by manager Nigel Clough as the Rams look to build for another long season in the Championship. Clough is pleased the former Killie captain has joined Derby and he believes his leadership qualities will be of great benefit.

Tremendous

He said: "It's a tremendous signing for us and we're delighted that Craig has chosen to come to Derby. He's a leader on and off the field and has a tremendous hunger to improve. "We've watched him in action repeatedly over the last six months and he has energy and ability in abundance. "At age 24 he's a player we see having a big impact both now and in the future." Bryson, who started 33 of Kilmarnock's 38 SPL games last season, skippered the side to a sixth-placed finish. He made his full international debut in November last year against the Faroe Islands. He added in the Daily Record: "The move has come at the right time for me. I have been playing in the SPL for four years and it does get repetitive facing the same sides four times a season. It can get monotonous. "With only one team going down and one coming up there is no freshness and everything is catered for the Old Firm. "But in the Championship you are playing teams just twice a season and they are all massive clubs. "A couple of other Championship clubs were showing interest but I wanted to come here and a deal for three years offers security."
