Derby admit goalkeeper no longer features in their plans

Stephen Bywater has been told to use his loan move to Sheffield Wednesday as an opportunity to earn a permanent move switch from Derby. Bywater, who is in the final year of his contract with the Rams, has fallen out of favour at Pride Park and has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan until December 17. Goalkeeping coach Martin Taylor has confirmed that the shot-stopper does not feature in the thoughts of manager Nigel Clough and should use his Owls move to help him find a new club. The 30-year-old's last appearance for Derby was in the home defeat by Hull City in February. England Under 21 goalkeeper Frank Fielding is now Derby's No.1, while summer signing Adam Legzdins has also usurped Bywater in the pecking order. "He's not in the squad at all. Nothing against Stephen because he's worked really hard, but he doesn't figure in our plans," Taylor said. "At his age he just needs to play games and get in the shop window."
