Experienced Burnley goalkeeper Lee Grant is adamant the club's young squad can challenge for promotion to the Premier League next season.
The Clarets' roller-coaster ride of a campaign finished in mid-table, with a squad featuring just two players over the age of 30.
The Lancashire outfit may have to make plans for next season without top scorer Jay Rodriguez, with a host of clubs chasing the hotshot.
However, Grant feels the experience gained from this year will benefit them next term.
"We've got a very, very young squad and the manager is trying to put in place the building blocks for success at this club," he told Sky Sports.
"He has brought in a lot of good young players and I think that it is a great ethos to go about things and another years experience is only going to benefit this group of players.
"Obviously, there is a young squad here and the experienced gained this season can only stand us in good stead, so we certainly go into the summer with a lot of optimism for next season.
"We know that we've held our own against some of the bigger sides this season and picked up some big results along the way.
"Results away at Upton Park, up at Middlesbrough and down at Brighton shows that we can compete with the bigger sides in the division.
"If we can be shrewd in the market and keep hold of as many of the current squad as we can over the summer then we should have a good chance next year."
