Striker determined to prove his worth to Canaries

Chris Martin's agent says his client is focused on proving his worth to new Norwich boss Chris Hughton, with talk of a summer switch shelved for now. The 23-year-old fell out of favour at Carrow Road last season and was loaned out to Crystal Palace. It was expected that he would be offloaded once the window re-opened, with Burnley among those reported to be keen. The Clarets have seen their attacking options depleted by the sale of Jay Rodriguez to Southampton and were understood to be eyeing up an approach for Martin. His representative claims to be unaware of any interest from Turf Moor and maintains that it is Martin's preference to push for a recall under Hughton. "There is always a lot of speculation at this time of year," Matt Kleinman told the Lancashire Telegraph.

Pre-season

"At the moment there is a new manager and Chris is back in pre-season with Norwich. "He is looking to prove himself at Norwich and play in the Premier League." While determined to prove his worth at Carrow Road, Kleinman has refused to rule out the possibility of Martin heading out on another short-term loan. "We're not expecting anything at the moment, although things can always change in a couple of weeks," he added. "If it materialises that he is not in the manager's plans, then he might look to go out on loan. "But right now he is in pre-season with Norwich and looking to stay there."
