The 29-year-old was rushed into the Rams fold ahead of Saturday's home date with Sheffield Wednesday after convincing manager Steve McClaren of his worth during a trial spell.
He was handed his bow against the Owls and caught the eye during a comfortable 3-0 win.
Cisse has added useful experience to the Derby ranks and McClaren admits he is looking at ways of keeping the former Reading and Bristol City man at Pride Park long term.
"We are discussing something a bit more permanent where we both benefit," he told the Derby Telegraph.
Meanwhile, McClaren has assured Michael Jacobs that he remains part of his plans despite allowing the 22-year-old midfielder to link up with League One outfit Wolves on loan.
He added: "Michael has done very well, I like him, but he needs to play games to get experience and Wolves is a great club for him to join.
"He has been unlucky not to play but other players have come in and done well.
"He is too good a player just to play in the second team. The loan will do him the world of good."
