Shaw expects a number of clubs to enquire about the Jamaican international over the summer despite having only just recovered from a serious knee injury.
The former Hearts striker had attracted the interest of a host clubs before picking up the knee injury in December which ended his season prematurely.
Shaw is keen to keep hold of the tricky forward but admits they would be forced to sell if the right offer came along.
"We certainly don't want to lose Ricardo - we want him to help us get promoted to the Premier League," said Shaw.
"But we have got to face facts. Ultimately we can't stop players going to The Premiership. We can't stop them doubling or trebling their wages
"People were looking before he was injured. There was a lot of speculation, but we have had no enquiries at all for Ricardo and that's how we would like it to stay.
"The guy was doing magnificently for us before he did his knee. It was a massive blow to lose him and there is no doubt in my mind we could have finished higher up the table had he stayed injury-free.
"I would like to talk about us building around Ricardo for next season, I don't want to be talking about trying to hang on to him."
