Preston North End striker Richard Cresswell has inked a new three year extension.Preston North End striker Richard Cresswell has inked a new three-year extension to his current deal.
The forward's contract was to expire at the end of the season but he has now penned a deal that keeps him at Deepdale until the end of the 2007/08 campaign.
Cresswell has proved a popular figure during his time at the Lancashire outfit, winning the club's Player of the Season in 2001/02 after netting 15 goals.
Lilywhites boss Craig Brown awarded Cresswell the captain's armband in a series of pre-season friendlies and, along with chairman Derek Shaw, is clearly a keen admirer of the player's talents.
''Personally, I think Richard Cresswell is a top Championship player,'' Shaw informed the club's official website.
''I feel he would be inundated with offers if his contract had run out and we are very pleased to get Richard signed up.
''As we said when Andrew Lonergan signed, there are a number of contracts of first teamers we are looking to extend before the panic happens at the end of the season.''
