Preston fought off late interest from Stoke to wrap up the signing of Chris Sedgwick.Preston North End fought off late interest from Stoke City to wrap up the signing of Chris Sedgwick from Rotherham United.
The winger opted to end his lengthy association with The Millers, for whom he made over 250 appearances, and plumped for fellow Championship side Preston.
The Lilywhites agreed a package totalling in excess of £400,000 to lure Sedgwick away from Millmoor.
Sedgwick has penned a three-and-a-half year contract at Deepdale and is likely to make his debut this weekend against Derby County.
But to complete the capture of the 24-year-old, Preston had to fend off competition from Championship rivals Stoke.
The Potters were also keen on the wide man but Preston boss Billy Davies is thankful his club persuaded Sedgwick to sign on the dotted line.
"We are absolutely delighted that Chris has agreed terms with us," Davies told the club's official website.
"We faced some very tough competition but we have worked very hard to get him to come to Preston and it has paid off."
