Preston goalkeeper Andy Lonergan will miss the rest of the season through injury.Preston have suffered a major blow with the news that Andy Lonergan will miss the rest of the season.
The highly-rated goalkeeper picked up a cruciate knee ligament injury in a training ground accident on Thursday.
Lonergan is expected to be out of action for six months with the problem.
North End boss Billy Davies admitted it was a major blow to lose Lonergan as they chase promotion to The Premiership.
"I'm gutted about losing such an important player at this stage of the season especially in the situation we are in," Davies told the club's official website.
"I have spoken to Andy and he is absolutely devastated, gutted.
"Andy has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament and damaged his medial ligament and he will be out for between six to nine months."
