Preston boss Billy Davies is hoping he can retain the services of his key players.Preston North End manager Billy Davies is hoping he can retain the services of his key players.
Following Preston's surprise run to last season's Championship play-off final, a number of Davies' players are being eyed by Premiership clubs.
Dickson Etuhu has been linked with a move to Everton, while The Toffees are also rumoured to be keen on David Nugent.
The young striker has made a major impact at Deepdale since joining from Bury in January and scored in Preston's 2-1 win at Watford on Saturday.
Davies is aware clubs are tracking his best players and he is anxiously waiting for the transfer window to close.
"You can never rest until the window closes," said Davies.
"We have some very good players now in the squad and hopefully they will take us through to the transfer window in January.
"But with this quality you are always likely to draw interest from other clubs.
"So I'll be pleased when September 1 comes and we can relax."
