Elvis Hammond and Patrick Agyemang have been called up to the Ghana squad.
Championship duo Elvis Hammond and Patrick Agyemang have been called up to the Ghana squad ahead of their friendly with Mexico, with both strikers hoping to make their international bows for the African country in Dallas.
Agyemang has scored five league goals for Preston this term whilst Leicester's Hammond has scored one less.
Preston boss Billy Davies hopes that his striker will gain valuable experience whilst on international duty and is optimistic that Agyemang can boost his chances of making the World Cup squad having narrowly missed out on the African Cup of Nations.
"It's a great boost for Patrick to maybe get a chance to play in a World Cup," said Davies.
Meanwhile, Hertha Berlin star Kevin Boateng will turn down the chance to represent Ghana at the World Cup.
The 18-year-old hopes instead to play for Germany's Under-21s in the European Championship.
"I'm hoping to be at the European Under-21 Championships this summer and to win that with Germany," he said.
Boateng would follow in the footsteps of Gerald Asamoah who was also born in Ghana but chose to play for Germany.
