Striker signs six-month contract at Deepdale

Sky Sports News understands Nathan Ellington has signed a six-month contract with Preston. New North End boss Phil Brown has been casting his eye over the former Bristol Rovers, Wigan and West Brom forward and has now secured his services. The 29-year-old bagged a brace for the club's reserves in their 3-1 victory over Shrewsbury's second string on Wednesday evening with Brown in attendance. Ellington has only recently returned to England from Greece, where he has been plying his trade during a loan spell with Skoda Xanthi after being told he has no future at Watford. The Hornets are unwilling to select the forward again as a further appearance for their first team would trigger an additional transfer payment to previous club West Brom. And his Vicarage Road spell has now come to an end with Brown moving to add him to his thin squad at Preston as he looks to keep the club in the Championship.
