Westley firmly eyeing promotion

Preston manager Graham Westley has his eyes firmly on promotion after seeing his side shoot their way into the play-off spot.

Joel Byrom's first Preston goal sparked a rout which also saw Stuart Beavon and Jack King get on the scoresheet, while Scott Laird scored twice in four minutes in the closing stages as North End bounced back from their weekend defeat by Crawley. "We didn't play well on Saturday, there's no hiding from that, but the footballing ethos was there for everyone to see," said Westley. "We have a next-goal mentality. We want to keep scoring the next goal. Who knows how important goals scored could be at the end of the season? "We saw in the Premier League last season how important that can be and how it can make the difference between success and failure. "Just as I didn't get myself too downhearted on Saturday, I'm not going to get too carried away now. We played well and scored some good goals, but now have a tough trip to Walsall and we have to get ready for that."
