West Brom boss Alan Pardew says the scoreline flattered Stoke after his side were defeated 3-1 in the Premier League.

Alan Pardew felt that West Brom deserved more after they suffered a 3-1 Premier League defeat away at Stoke on Saturday.

West Brom have now lost three and drawn two of Pardew's matches in charge, and are without a win in the Premier League since August - a run which now stretches to 17 games.

However, Pardew insisted that his side showed determination and quality against Stoke and called on the club's fans to make the Hawthorns a fortress over the festive period.

"It was unlike us, we gifted them two goals today. We conceded that goal right at the end of the first half and that scoreline flattered Stoke," Pardew said.

"Not only was the fight and desire there, the quality was there too but conceding those goals on the stroke of half-time was really damaging.

"I really feel for the players, I really do. They've really played well today and got nothing and football can be like that at times.

"In the position we're in we've got to show not only the character to bounce back from that situation but also the quality and we could easily have gotten a draw today, even from 2-0 down. We deserved a bit more luck than we got."

Stoke 3-1 West Brom

If there was one silver lining for Pardew and West Brom it was that Salomon Rondon ended his barren run in front of goal to score only his third Premier League goal of the season.

The Venezuelan is West Brom's leading goalscorer this term and Pardew praised him for putting a couple of first half misses behind him to find the net.

"I was pleased that Salomon scored after his miss in the first half and the wonder-save," he added.

"He was feeling sorry for himself a little bit but he got himself together at half-time and that's an important goal for us, he's broken his sequence so that was a bonus for us.

"We need our fans to really help us against Everton. If we play like that and have our fans behind us it will be very difficult for anyone to beat us at home."
