The Baggies are desperate to underline their credentials as genuine promotion candidates, but were forced to show grit after being reduced to ten men early on in their visit to Turf Moor.
Rob Hulse can have little complaint about his dismissal, the big striker led with an elbow when going up with Mark McGregor and referee Nigel Miller did not hesitate in showing the red card.
Burnley could not benefit from their numerical advantage and went in at the break with the game scoreless.
However it was The Clarets who finally broke the deadlock when Robbie Blake turned superbly after good work from Glen Little and fired home to the delight of the home crowd.
However, West Brom are made of stern stuff and grabbed an equaliser soon after when Geoff Horsfield cantered through and despatched a clinical shot past Brian Jensen after a quality pass from Neil Clement.
