Burnley stand firm on Chaplow

Steve Cotterill says Burnley will not compromise over Richard Chaplow

Steve Cotterill insists that Burnley will not sell Richard Chaplow for less than they value the midfielder at.

The England Under-21 international is wanted by West Brom boss Bryan Robson, who believes that he can make the step up to the top-flight.

Chaplow was the star man in Burnley's superb 1-0 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup, and talk is growing that West Brom will have to offer money, striker Rob Hulse and current Turf Moor loan-star James O'Connor to capture the player.

O'Connor's grit has impressed both Cotterill and the Burnley fans - and the midfielder may well prove a key component to any deal.

"It's all part of the Richard Chaplow situation. If Richard ends up going to West Brom there could be a good chance of keeping him, but it has to be right for us if that one ends up going through," said Cotterill.

"That's not in our court. Our chairman spoke to their chairman saying exactly what we would want in the deal. That's it as far as I know.

"I'm not in any hurry. If Richard stays here we're delighted with that. What will be will be out of it.

"If the deal ends up being right and Richard wants to go, there really isn't a lot you can do.

"But if the deal isn't right, there's a lot you can do about it. You don't have to do anything."
