Zoltan Gera has revealed he feels it is hard work playing in attack in The Premiership.
The West Brom star has been a key figure in his side's battle to beat relegation and played in a more advanced role during the luckless 4-0 defeat at Middlesbrough.
Feeling attack is sometimes the best form of defence, the highly-rated Hungarian at least found one friend to commiserate with after the heavy defeat at The Riverside.
"This time, I was playing as a striker," he told Nemzeti Sport.
"I have to admit that I had thought midfielders have the toughest job in The Premiership but now I have to think over this theory of mine because I had to run a lot too.
"After the game, I was surprised when a security guard greeted me in Hungarian. It came to light that he's my compatriot and a big fan of Newcastle.
"It was great to have a short conversation with him while I was happy too when I observed a Hungarian flag in the stadium."
Gera had been buoyed by the splendid performance at Tottenham in midweek.
"We played bravely from the start in the Spurs game," he explained. "We are trying to do this in our away games - we don't concentrate on defending.
"It was perfect tactics for the first half and we had more chances than Tottenham."
