Richard Chaplow damaged knee ligaments in training and will not face Man Utd.Richard Chaplow will play no part in West Brom's vital clash with Manchester United after suffering a freak training ground accident.
The 20-year-old has performed with credit for The Baggies since his January arrival from Burnley, but he damaged knee ligaments last week when colliding with team-mate Kanu.
Chaplow has definitely been ruled out of the trip to Old Trafford and is rated doubtful for the final game of the season against Portsmouth.
"Chaplow has done his knee ligament but he has a 50/50 chance for Portsmouth," said Baggies chief Bryan Robson.
"Running into these last two games the last thing we wanted was having a couple of people out, especially with Andy Johnson already missing from centre midfield.
"Chaplow picked up the injury in training in a freak accident with Kanu on Friday.
"The two of them were on the same team and went for the ball at the same time.
"They both thought the other was going to leave it and Richard just twisted his knee a little bit as they came together 50/50."
The Baggies are in dire trouble at the foot of the table and have just two games to extricate themselves from the drop zone.
