West Brom have turned down a transfer request from Robert Earnshaw.West Bromwich Albion have turned down a transfer request from Robert Earnshaw.
The former Cardiff City star submitted a transfer request after growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities.
Earnshaw has made only four starts in The Premiership this term, with the Welshman playing second fiddle to the likes of Kanu, Kevin Campbell, Geoff Horsfield and Nathan Ellington.
Baggies boss Bryan Robson rejected Earnshaw's request and insists the diminutive striker has a role to play at the club, with Nwankwo Kanu and Diomansy Kamara set to miss several games while on African Cup of Nations duty in January.
"Earnie has handed in a transfer request and I've turned it down," Robson told the club's official website.
"He is part of my plans. All of my strikers have an important role to play this season."
The 24-year-old has previously admitted he may have to move on in search of regular action in a bid to safeguard his international place.
Wigan Athletic were linked with a move for Earnshaw last summer and they could make a new move for him in January, knowing the player is looking to leave The Hawthorns.
