West Brom's Zoltan Gera has revealed he is happy to be playing again.
West Bromwich Albion's Zoltan Gera has revealed he is happy to be playing again after his five minute appearance at White Hart Lane on Monday night.
Injury has restricted the the Hungarian to just six first-team starts this season, but the winger is just happy to be involved with the senior squad after having to watch The Baggies struggle from the stands for most of the campaign.
West Brom's 2-1 defeat was hard on the Hawthorns club, who deserved a point from the game at the very least. Gera was unhappy that his comeback game did not end in a goal when he had the chance to net just moments before Robbie Keane scored the winner from the penalty spot.
"My header would've been good only if it was a goal," Gera told his own personal website.
"I should've scored from the opportunity, but I couldn't hit the ball perfectly. I'm very sorry about it."
Despite only being involved for the final few minutes, the winger insists he is happy to bide his time while returning to full fitness.
"I'm not disappointed, what's more I didn't even expect to get a chance," he conceded.
"As I saw the score, I thought I wouldn't be sent on, I was a bit surprised when they told me to play."
Gera is hoping to have more of an impact in West Brom's next game, although the odds could be stacked against Albion taking maximum points against a free-scoring Liverpool. Nevertheless, the 26-year-old believes he can be a useful addition to the squad, if chosen.
"I'm very optimistic, but it's impossible to predict if I will play or not," he added.
"Until that game, there will be training and if I come through that, I hope I'll be in the squad to help the team."
