Nigel Quashie has been ruled out of both of Scotland's forthcoming matches.
Walter Smith has been handed a blow with news that Nigel Quashie has been ruled out of both of Scotland's forthcoming European Championship qualifying games.
The West Brom midfielder has been sidelined with an ankle injury, picked up at just the wrong time given the pedigree of Scotland's opponents.
On Saturday Scotland face beaten World Cup finalists France, while Ukraine will also provide a tough test for Smith's improving side, which thus far has garnered maximum spoils from two Group B matches.
Smith has yet to decide whether to draft in a replacement, with his assistant Tommy Burns confirming that Kevin McNaughton and Graeme Murty were also absentees.
"Nigel is out for both games and so is McNaughton and Murty," said Burns.
"The manager will decide later on if we are going to bring anybody in."
