West Brom's Paul McShane is struggling for fitness ahead of Republic of Ireland's Euro 2008 qualifiers.
The defender sustained ankle ligament damage during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Birmingham and is an injury doubt for Steve Staunton's men.
The 21-year-old is now hoping he will shake off the knock in time to face Wales at Croke Park on Saturday and Slovakia on Wednesday.
"I was supposed to have flown to Ireland on Sunday night but my ankle would have swollen up on the plane," said McShane.
"I am getting treatment and it feels okay but we will just have to wait and see how it goes over the next few days.
"I have been looking forward to the Wales game for ages and I want to give myself the best chance of playing but I will make sure I am 100 per cent fit to go into the game."
