The defender has linked up once again with Tony Mowbray at West Brom after what he feels was the worst spell of his career.
Martis struggled at times last season at Hibs and was disappointed by Collins' lack of support when the going got tough.
"The season started well for me, then suddenly I hit a slope and I felt I was alone sliding down that slope," he told the Daily Record.
"I got no support and felt I was on my own. Bosses speak with players when things aren't right but John Collins never spoke with me.
"I went through the worst six months of my career and I had never felt that low before."
West Brom paid £50,000 to land Martis earlier this month, with the 24-year-old signing a two-year deal with the Championship club.
Martis was not planning to leave Hibernian this summer and the news of The Baggies' interest came as a bit of a shock.
"The gaffer didn't tell me I wasn't wanted. I got a phone call from my agent to say West Brom wanted me," he said.
"I told Collins during the summer I wanted to stay but he told me to speak with West Brom."
