Baggies boss delighted after Black Country derby victory

Roy Hodgson hailed an important victory after West Brom beat Wolves 2-0 to climb out of the Premier League drop zone. The Baggies claimed the Black Country bragging rights - and their first top-flight win over Wolves for 29 years - with goals from Chris Brunt and substitute Peter Odemwingie. Hodgson believed his side were good value for the win, their first at home this season, and he hopes the Baggies will now continue their climb up the table. He told Sky Sports: "I thought that we got off to a good start with a goal but I must give Wolves a lot of credit.

Played well

"I thought they played well - I thought that their style of play is not easy to deal with, they do it extremely well and I was a bit concerned at one stage with the number of corners they got that one would result in a goal. "But I thought the longer the game went on, we established a bit more control over it and in fact we were good value for the two goals because we had lots of goal chances and (Wolves keeper Wayne) Hennessey made two or three outstanding saves to keep them in the game at certain stages. "So it was an important victory, an important game for us and one that I hope will help us to move onwards and upwards."
