The 25-year-old came off the bench at The Hawthorns to score the equaliser against the Blues and earn the Baggies a 1-1 draw.
The point means that West Brom moved out of the relegation zone, but only on goal difference, and have yet to win under new manager Pepe Mel, who replaced Steve Clarke at the helm last month.
However, Anichebe believes that his side can now build on the draw against the league leaders and secure their survival in the top flight.
"Even though I was unhappy I wasn't playing, I was pleased for the boys because they really did play well," he told reporters.
"I thought we were unlucky to go in at half-time 1-0 down. Everyone dug in and we showed what a good team we are.
"We pressed Chelsea all game, and we attacked them too. We took the game to them.
"A draw is a good result, but we could have nicked it. It is a big moment in the season.
"We just need to roll our sleeves up and go into every game like it's a cup final."
