Speaking on The Fantasy Football Club, Tim Sherwood says he was offered the West Brom job at the start of the summer but it wasn't right for him.

Tim Sherwood has revealed he turned down the chance to return to management with West Brom earlier in the summer.

Sherwood lost his position as Tottenham head coach in May, despite signing an 18-month contract at White Hart Lane in December 2013.

He looked set to join West Brom but failed to agree terms at the Hawthorns, although the 45-year-old remains keen to return to management, if the right opportunity comes along.

“I think it’s a very good club. I had two very long meetings with them and they offered me the position there as manager,” Sherwood told The Fantasy Football Club.

“We carried on the discussions, personal terms and a little bit about who they may be bringing in. In the end, we decided it wasn’t going to be right.

“In the game I have always been told, ‘if in doubt, leave it out’ and there was too much doubt there for me. I decided, at this stage, the West Brom job wasn’t the right one for me.”

Sherwood, who was in charge of Spurs on a caretaker and then permanent basis following the departure of Andre Villas-Boas, remains keen to manage again, although he admitted there is heavy competition for jobs.

“There was nothing about and there are a lot of good managers looking for work at the moment and I am certainly one of them,” he added.

“Nothing has cropped up at the moment which I feel is right for me.”
