The 24-year-old, who was linked with fellow English Championship side Nottingham Forest, is expected to spend a few days training with Dave Jones's side.
He is the second Metz player to try his luck in England after fellow defender Stephane Morisot had a similar trial with Joe Kinnear's Forest this summer.
Meanwhile, The FA have fined Wolves captain Paul Ince £5,000 for bringing the game into disrepute after comments he made in the club's final match of last season against Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Manchester United and Liverpool man was sent off for two yellow cards in the match on May 15 and Ince will await official notification before deciding whether to appeal against the charge.
Ince has also been warned as to his future conduct by The FA.
