Wolves have completed the signing of Scottish international Jackie McNamara.Wolves have completed the signing of Scottish international Jackie McNamara.
The 31-year-old has turned down the offer of a new contract at Celtic and has now left Glasgow after ten years at Parkhead.
"It was a big wrench to leave Celtic after ten great years and it was particularly disappointing with the way it all finished," McNamara told a press conference.
"But now I'm looking forward to a new challenge. I believe that this club has got a fantastic chance of getting into the Premiership and hopefully it will be next season.
"I spoke to Kenny Miller recently about Wolves and he spoke highly of the management and the club.
"And Wolves showed a great desire to get my services and that's what made my mind up.
"Glenn Hoddle made me feel welcome and he told me of the club's ambitions and the style of play he likes and I found it all very exciting."
McNamara has signed a two-year deal at Molineux and is Glenn Hoddle's second Bosman signing of the summer.
Hoddle snapped up Rohan Ricketts from Tottenham last month as he continues to overhaul the Wolves squad.
Celtic confirmed they were disappointed to have lost McNamara.
"Celtic offered Jackie a greatly improved deal and, contrary to reports, we offered Jackie a two-year contract with the club," said a club statement.
"Naturally, we are disappointed that Jackie has chosen not to accept our offer but this is clearly his prerogative to do so.
"We wish Jackie well for the future after the contribution he has made to the club."
