Mick McCarthy hailed Michael Kightly, as Mike Newell was left to rue losing a lead again.
Mick McCarthy hailed Wolves winger Michael Kightly as 'a revelation', while Mike Newell was left to rue Luton Town throwing away another lead.
Wolves came from 2-1 down to record a 3-2 victory at Kenilworth Road which lifted the team into the Championship play-off spots.
Kightly was instrumental in the victory and McCarthy eulogised over the player's impact since his arrival from Conference club Grays Athletic in the autumn.
"When you sign players from that level or below, of course you want them to do well and you hope they will," said McCarthy.
"From day one, I knew he could play. But I could never have expected him to be as good as he has been.
"Kightly has been a revelation. To see someone performing like that is refreshing.
"'Kights' was rejected by Tottenham and Southend, but he has proved that dropping out of the league is not always the worst thing."
Newell was left to reflect on a second 3-2 home defeat in a week, with Luton having also led Norwich City 2-1 on Tuesday night.
With the club battling to stay in the Championship, the Hatters manager concedes his team can not afford to keep letting leads slip.
"How disappointing can you get?" said Newell. "I believe we have lost more leads than any other team in the league.
"We have only ourselves to blame.
"We have shown we can score goals, but we should not have to score four to win."
