Christophe Berra insists he is enjoying playing for Hearts, despite missing out on a summer move to Wolves.
Championship leaders Wolves tried to sign the defender before the start of the season only to see a bid rejected by Hearts.
Speculation persists over Berra's future at Tynecastle, particularly after the Hearts squad were not paid for the second time this season last Friday.
But the Jambos skipper is not dwelling on Wolves' past interest as he looks to continue the improvement which has seen him make his Scotland debut this year.
"If players do well then you are going to be the subject of speculation," said Berra in the Daily Record.
"There is no point dwelling on the past. The Wolves thing never happened and that is life.
"I am still here, I am 23 and I just want to keep improving as a player week in, week out.
"I am a professional and no matter who I play for in the future I will always give 110 per cent. It is in my character to try to be the best I can. If I make mistakes I am always disappointed with myself and I always try to improve on that.
"I could have done things better against Rangers. The best players are those who go to the highest level and still try to improve themselves.
"I am not for one minute saying I want to leave this club. I have been here for a long time and I am enjoying myself here."
